Welcome to the Victorian Era presented by Victory Vintage. During this era, ladies were ladies and men were men. Times were simpler, yet clothes and social life drove the society. Your social status dictated your attire. Who you were in society was evident by what you wore. For the ladies, layers and frills were the norm. Your layers began with corsets, corset covers, camisoles, drawers or pantaloons, fine hosiery, slips, and layered petticoats. Then came your garment for that day or that outing. It may have been a dress, a gown, or a walking suit, depending on your destination. You would have finished the look off with many accessories, as well. There were fans, gloves, shawls, parasols and umbrellas, pockets (purses), bags, shoes and boots. Don't forget the exquisite, yet delicate jewelry of the day. The finishing touch was a hat, bonnet, veil, coiffure or other hair ornamentation.
While much has changed since the Victorian Era, many women still enjoy reminiscing and recreating the romance and femininity of those days gone by.
